Just as the 2026 Vermont maple sugaring season was getting underway, we played host to…
Documenting the Rise of Tech in Our Modern Sugarhouse
From reverse osmosis systems to vacuum tubing, the technology used to produce maple syrup is simply amazing. It’s hard to believe that just a generation ago, we used buckets, horses, and stayed up all night feeding wood-fired boilers to make maple.
As we pushed the technological limits of our industry, we’ve quickly come to understand the importance of a “connected” sugarhouse in making the entire operation more efficient.
With this in mind, when Fidium Fiber came through our rural Vermont town of Fairfield a couple of years ago, we decided to adopt the new, faster technology. Our internet needs were growing beyond our direct-to-consumer website and the desire for strong cell phone signals.
This year, Fidium visited the sugarhouse to see our operation and document how we’ve adopted technology. They put together a well-done video that they’ll use for marketing. It does a great job of telling the story of how we went from a part-time operation supporting a dairy farm to a 100,000-tap maple producer with customers in all 50 states.
